UOSSM-Canada Meets with Small Kindness Bangladesh 
On October 3-5, UOSSM-Canada met with Redwanur Rahman, a representative from Small Kindness Bangladesh, at UOSSM's head office in Turkey to coordinate the operations of a mobile dental clinic in the Rohingya camps, a joint project between UOSSM-Canada and ICNA Relief. UOSSM-Canada continues to raise funds for the mobile clinic, which will meet the urgent oral health needs of the Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar. Earlier this month, UOSSM-Canada also sent a box of medical supplies and winter blankets to Cox's Bazar.

 

UOSSM-Canada Extends Operations of Idlib Mobile Clinics in Collaboration with Islamic Relief Canada 
UOSSM-Canada recently extended the operations of four primary healthcare mobile clinics operating in the Idlib governorate to provide medical relief to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable people. The funds were matched by UOSSM-Canada's partner, Islamic Relief Canada. The details of the mobile clinics and their impact can be found in the attached monthly report.

 

UOSSM-Canada Advocates for Delivery of Aid to Rukban Camp
In a statistic cited by the UN, 50,000 civilians are stranded on the Syrian-Jordanian border in the Rukban Camp, where humanitarian aid has been blocked. On October 15th, UOSSM-Canada released an official statement calling attention to the medical crisis and requesting the entry of humanitarian aid. "Children are facing horrific malnutrition and are drinking contaminated water," said Dr Hussam Al-Fakir, the Chair of UOSSM-Canada. "Pregnant women are giving birth in the desert without even the most basic medical care. Those that desperately need caesarean sections have not been allowed to leave the camp and are in a perilous situation." Read more here.

 

UOSSM's First Presence in the South of France 
After taking part in the Muslim Fair of Paris Le Bourget, Europe's largest annual meeting for Muslims, UOSSM staff travelled to Marseille on October 21st to participate in the RAMS (Annual meeting for Muslims in the South), marking UOSSM's first presence in the south of France. VR film screening showing UOSSM’s Bab Al Hawa Hospital and an initial first aid course were the main activities that took place at UOSSM's booth throughout the day.

 
UOSSM Celebrates the Fifth Year Anniversary of the Mental Health Care Center in Reyhanli, Turkey
UOSSM’s Mental Health Care Center has provided services to over 15,000 people since the center was established in 2013. The center is located in Reyhanli, Turkey to provide mental health care services to Syrian refugees.
 
 

UOSSM Participates in Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in October
UOSSM participated in Breast Cancer Awareness month throughout October by providing information about breast cancer, its causes, and the importance of breast exams and early detection, which are instrumental to saving lives. October is also Mental Health month, thus, UOSSM shared mental health information via social media, on the importance of mental health care. 
 

 

UOSSM Offers Governance Workshop in Gaziantep
In the month of October humanitarian workers, members of health directorates, and UOSSM staff attended a governance workshop offered by Dr. Zaidoun Alzoabi in Gaziantep. The workshop was part of an ongoing series that covered discussions about governance.
