SAVE THE DATE! UOSSM-Canada Extends Invitation to Community Members and Partners for Upcoming Symposium

This year, UOSSM-Canada has planned a combined Annual General Meeting and Symposium. Our goal this year is to provide a half-day Symposium that focuses on current challenges and solutions to delivering healthcare for communities living in conflict zones. We continue our mission to provide education to all healthcare providers who work to save lives and improve the healing of the injured. This includes family physicians, endocrinologists, trauma surgeons, nurses, and other providers throughout the continuum of acute care and rehabilitation. We encourage students and trainees of all levels and healthcare disciplines to attend. 
 

UOSSM Awarded Best Poster Presentation at the 24th Canadian Conference on Global Health

During a conference held at the Hilton Hotel in Toronto from November 19-21, UOSSM presented a research poster entitled, “Gender-transformative programming in a Syrian context: results and recommendations derived from a qualitative social relations study and analysis”. The poster was based upon a gender-based analysis conducted in the south and north of Syria. The primary objective of our research was to provide program development considerations to humanitarian and civil society actors and institutions attending the conference. On November 21st, UOSSM’s poster was declared one of four posters to receive the “best poster award”.
 

UOSSM-Canada and UOSSM-US Launch Joint Campaign for Internally Displaced Persons

UOSSM-Canada and UOSSM-US launched a joint social media campaign this month entitled "10 facts for 10 days" intended to challenge the inequities faced by internally displaced people in Syria. The campaign works to bring attention to these issues and raise funds for UOSSM projects that will promote a positive transformation for these communities. Follow the campaign on Facebook, or donate to support UOSSM's work to provide medical relief for isolated and hard-to-reach communities such as the displaced in Idlib.
 

UOSSM Signs an Agreement with KSRelief Center to Support Health Services at Bab Al-Hawa Hospital

The King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief (KSRelief) Signed an agreement to support the health services at Bab Al-Hawa Hospital in Syria, which provide services to more than a million people per year. The agreement was a part of a campaign by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to help the victims of war in Syria.
 

UOSSM and The Idlib Health and Education Directorates Launch School Health Project in Idlib

UOSSM and the Idlib Health and Education Directorates announced the launch of the School Health Project in Idlib. The project will cover 105 area schools. The main goal of the project is to strengthen the health of children in schools. More health promotion will be delivered and cases in need of treatment will be referred to area primary healthcare centers in Quorqonia and Areeha, which will be a part of the School Health Clinic.
 

 

UOSSM's Latest Humanitarian and Medical Mission in Northern Syria


A recent humanitarian and medical mission was led by our doctors from the 22nd until the 25th of October 2018. Dr. Zouhair Lahna, gynecologist involved in humanitarian work with UOSSM, Dr. Ziad Alissa, president of UOSSM France, and Dr. Raphaël Pitti, head of the training program of UOSSM France, traveled to the North of Syria to provide medical training in the techniques used in emergency obstetrics. Dr. Roger Wollf and Dr. Shereen Alissa, dental sugeons, were also present during the mission to provide  training in emergency dental care.
 

"What's up Doc' for Syria?" in its Third Edition in Paris


On November 6th, UOSSM France organized their third annual conference, entitled, "What's up Doc for Syria?" The event was co-organized with the student organization ACA "Association Cristolienne des Arts" and took place in the faculty of pharmacy in Creteil, Paris, with over 100 attendees.
 

UOSSM Held a Musical Concert in Suisse 


On November 12 UOSSM'S concert took place in Zurich in participation and presence of community leaders, politicians, religious leaders, professors and over a 100 guests who came together to stand in solidarity with UOSSM for the victims who were killed serving humanitarian causes after seven years of conflict.

UOSSM Co-Presents at The Syrian Film Festival in Toronto.


On November 10, UOSSM co-presented a film at the Syrian Film festival in Toronto, where a conversation about detainees’ rights and sexual violence against women took place. The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture presented the film alongside UOSSM.
